Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card review

It was one of the best cards for heavy Swiggy users and online shoppers, but HDFC is retiring it. Existing holders are being moved to Swiggy Ornge (free) or Swiggy BLCK. New applicants should compare those two cards rather than this one.

Fees

₹500 a year + GST. Renewal fee waived on ₹2 lakh of spending in the year. Forex markup 3.5%.

Rewards

Cashback is credited straight to the card statement (since June 2024)

  • Online shopping: 5% – 5% only on online spends in listed categories: clothing, electronics, department and discount stores, home decor, pharmacies, personal care, pet supplies, entertainment and local cabs (Uber, Ola). Other online spends get 1%.
  • Amazon: 5% – 5% bucket shared with other online categories, capped at ₹1,500 a cycle. Gift cards bought there earn nothing.
  • Flipkart: 5% – Same shared 5% bucket and ₹1,500 cap
  • Swiggy & Zomato: 10% – 10% on Swiggy food, Instamart and Dineout, for orders of ₹249 or more (from 21 April 2026), capped at ₹1,500 a cycle. Zomato earns only 1%. Paying with Swiggy Money, Liquor or Minis doesn't count.
  • Dining out: 1% – Restaurant bills booked and paid through Swiggy Dineout earn 10%; paying directly earns 1%
  • Groceries: 1% – Swiggy Instamart earns 10% (counted with food delivery), and Amazon and Flipkart grocery earns 5%. Other grocery stores and apps get 1%.
  • Fuel: 0%
  • Flights & hotels: 1% – Flights and hotels on Cleartrip earn 5% (from April 2026); other booking sites 1%
  • Rent: 0%
  • Education: 0% – Education payments don't earn cashback on Swiggy cards
  • UPI with a credit card: 0% – No RuPay variant, so it can't be used for UPI payments
  • Other in-store: 1% – 1% bucket capped at ₹500 a cycle
  • Foreign currency: 1% – Earns the usual 1%, but the 3.5% forex markup wipes it out

On a typical spending pattern this card gives back about ₹11,280 a year.
