Cashback SBI Card review

Still one of the simplest high-value cards for anyone who spends up to about ₹40,000 a month online, since 5% applies almost everywhere. Heavy spenders will hit the new ₹2,000 online cap quickly, and anyone wanting bill-payment rewards, lounges or travel perks should look elsewhere.

Fees

₹999 a year + GST. Renewal fee reversed if you spent ₹2 lakh or more in the previous card year. Forex markup 3.5%.

Rewards

Cashback is credited to the card account automatically within two working days after the next statement

  • Online shopping: 5% – 5% on online spends at any merchant; all online cashback shares one ₹2,000 cap per statement cycle
  • Amazon: 5% – Counts as online spend; shares the ₹2,000 online cap
  • Flipkart: 5% – Counts as online spend; shares the ₹2,000 online cap
  • Swiggy & Zomato: 5% – Swiggy and Zomato orders count as online spend; shares the ₹2,000 online cap
  • Groceries: 1% – 1% in store; orders placed online through apps like Blinkit, Zepto or BigBasket count as online spend and earn 5%
  • Fuel: 0%
  • Flights & hotels: 5% – Flights and hotels booked online earn 5% within the shared online cap; railway bookings earn nothing
  • Bills: 0%

  • Everything else: 1%

On a typical spending pattern this card gives back about ₹10,800 a year.

What’s good

  • 5% cashback on online spending at almost any merchant, not just partner sites
  • 1% cashback on in-store spending
  • Cashback lands as a statement credit automatically, with nothing to redeem
  • Fee reversed at ₹2 lakh of yearly spend

What’s not

  • Since 1 April 2026, online cashback stops at ₹2,000 per statement (about ₹40,000 of online spend) and total cashback at ₹4,000
  • Long exclusion list: bills, insurance, fuel, rent, education, wallets, jewellery, railways, gaming, tolls and government payments earn nothing
  • No lounge access and a 3.5% forex markup
  • Visa only, so no UPI rewards

Lounge access

Domestic: None (removed in 2023). International: None.
